Erbium (Er) is a grayish metal which density is 8.795g/cm3. Erbium Metal is mainly metallurgical uses. Added to vanadium, for example, Erbium lowers hardness and improves workability. There are also a few applications for the nuclear industry. 

Erbium Metal is available as disc, granules, ingot, pellets, pieces, powder , rod, wire, and sputtering target. Typical and custom packaging is available. Ultra high purity and high purity forms also include metal powder, submicron powder and nanoscale, quantum dots, targets for thin film deposition, pellets for evaporation and single crystal or polycrystalline forms. Elements can also be introduced into alloys or other systems as fluorides, oxides or chlorides or as solutions. Erbium has applications in glass coloring, as an amplifier in fiber optics, and in lasers for medical and dental use.

Applications of Erbium Metal

1. Used as a photographic filter and metallurgical additive.

2. Used in nuclear technology. When alloyed with vanadium, erbium lowers hardness and improves workability.

3. Used in lasers for medical and dental applications.

4. Used in glass coloring and as an amplifier in fiber optics.

5. Erbium-doped glasses or crystals can be used as optical amplification media.

6. Erbium Metal Powder is mainly used as a raw material for making high-tech metals.

7. Erbium Oxide is widely used as a dopant in making optical fiber and amplifier.

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
