Product Code : EM-Bi2Te3-5N-Cu
Bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3) is a semimetallic material with a range of applications in the semiconductor and electronics industries. It is predominantly used for thermoelectric and thermionic energy conversion devices and thermoelectric cooling. This material has a melting point of around 767°C and vaporizes at around 1092°C at atmospheric pressure, forming a volatile compound of bismuth and tellurium. Since bismuth and tellurium are not easily deposited by evaporation, bismuth telluride is normally used in stainless steel or molybdenum boats or crucibles, and evaporated in an electron beam evaporator or resistively heated source. Bismuth telluride is usually deposited at thicknesses ranging from 0.5 to 5µm depending on the application. The material’s properties can also be varied by co-evaporating it with other metals, to engineer properties such as its electrical conductivity.
