Product Code : EM-BN-5N-Cu
Boron nitride (BN) is a synthetic material composed of boron and nitrogen. It is similar to graphite in structure and appearance, but exhibits different physical and chemical properties due to its chemical composition. BN is an electric insulator, and is highly stable in extreme temperatures, up to 4,000°C in a vacuum. BN is widely used in industry ranging from electronics to aeronautics, and as an evaporation material it is often used in depositing protective ceramic layers on substrates, due to its low thermal resistance and its low coefficient of friction. It is particularly useful for producing lubricant layers, as its lubricating properties cannot be affected by air or contaminants.
