Product Code : EM-La-5N-Cu
Lanthanum is a silvery-white metal belonging to the lanthanide group of elements, and is the eleventh chemical element in the periodic table. It has one of the highest melting points of all the elements, reaching a temperature of 1512 ˚C (1785˚K). Lanthanum is a relatively soft, white metal which is very ductile and malleable and has good corrosion resistance in air and water. It is also a very strong neutron absorber and has been used as an additional source of radiation shielding in nuclear power plants.
Lanthanum is commonly used in evaporation material for thin-film deposition processes, such as sputtering and thermal evaporation. Being highly ductile, it is suitable for thermal evaporation in vacuum deposition chambers and is suitable for reactive sputtering applications. Evaporated lanthanum can be used to deposit thin films for various optical, electrical, and tribological applications.
