Indium Foil (In Foil)

Product Code : ME-In-5N-SF

ATT specializes in producing Indium High Purity Foil in many thicknesses and sizes for numerous industrial uses and provides health and occupational safety information for this product. Most foils are produced from cast ingots for use in coating and thin film Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes including Thermal and Electron Beam (E-Beam) Evaporation, Low Temperature Organic Evaporation, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Organometallic and Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) for specific applications such as fuel cells and solar energy. Thickness can range from 0.003" to approximately 2mm for all metals. Some metals can also be rolled down as thin as 0.001" for use as an evaporation source in microelectronics, optics, magnetics, MEMS, and hard resistant coatings. Piece sizes are available up to approximately 7" maximum width. Maximum lengths of about 20" can be obtained with a nominal thickness between about 0.005" and 0.020" for thin film deposition on glass or metal substrates. Materials are produced using crystallization, solid state and other ultra high purification processes such as sublimation. ATT specializes in producing custom compositions for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. ATT also casts any of the rare earth metals and most other advanced materials into rod, bar, or plate form, as well as other machined shapes and through other processes such as nanoparticles and in the form of solutions and organometallics. We also produce Indium as rods, powder and plates. Other shapes are available by request.

Product Information

Indium is ranked as the 61st most abundant element in the environment, has relatively low toxicity, is soft and ductile, and melts at a temperature of 157 o C. It is used in a number of cryogenic applications because of its flexibility at temperatures near absolute zero. Although indium melts at low temperatures, it has a very high boiling point, up to 2080 o C. Its ductile properties, combined with its ability to be cold welded to a variety of materials, make indium foils and sheets an excellent choice for gaskets and seals. Indium is soft and easily deforms on the surface of mating parts, making it an efficient thermal conductor for use in the electronics industry. Indium's low vapor pressure makes it a good choice for high vacuum applications.

Indium foils are commonly used as extremely efficient heat sinks for both high and low temperature applications. The semiconductor industry has discovered that indium can be used to synthesize semiconductor materials used in the manufacture of thin film solar cells. The main use is to form electrodes for touch screens and liquid crystal displays. Transparent conductive coatings of indium oxide and indium tin oxide are used as glass substrates in the manufacture of electroluminescent panels. Indium is particularly suitable for use in vacuum systems due to its sealing properties and as a bonding material in acoustic transducers.

ATToffers high-purity foils and sheets of many different elements for distribution to universities, research laboratories and manufacturing companies in a wide range of purity and form factors (i.e., wires, rods, strips, sheets, powders, discs, and customized materials). (Manufacturing parts). We are able to manufacture all of the above to your specifications.

Applications of  Indium Foil

Indium foil is commonly used as a contactor for linear ultrasonic retarding. The most important applications of indium are in the semiconductor industry and radio electronics.

Packing of Indium Foil

Standard Packing:

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.

ATTs’ Indium Foil  is carefully handled to minimize damage during storage and transportation and to preserve the quality of our products in their original condition.
