Magnesia crucibles, MgO crucibles, Magnesia ceramic crucibles, Magnesia ceramic

Product Code : CE-MgO-NN-CR

Magnesia (magnesium oxide, MgO) is a specialty ceramic with outstanding high-temperature performance, used primarily in thermal engineering, heating elements, crucibles, and refractory.

ATT Advanced Materials provides a range of products in magnesia : MgO ceramic, crucibles, high temperature adhesive, MgO cement, MgO powder..

Magnesia is an inert material with an excellent resistance to attack by metals as sodium, nickel-based alloys and plutonium/uranium systems. The material is known for a mechanical strength property and works very well under uniform heating or cooling to avoid thermal shock.

Because of its resistance to lead-based materials and other molten metals, magnesia is used for processing piezoelectric materials and make it the perfect components for refractories applications.

The magnesium oxide is used as a refractory under severe condition. Because its melting point (3098K) is the highest in the oxide and it is excellent in thermal conductivity (60W・m-1・K-1).

The magnesium oxide is superior in corrosion resistance in the molten metal. The magnesium oxide can be used for a lot of metals compared with the aluminium oxide. Especially, it is suitable for the calcination of lead zirconate titanate (PZT).
ATT manufactures magnesium oxide ceramics products of various shapes, such as setters, crucibles and saggers in a continuous process from raw materials to products.

Advantages

Magnesium oxide, or magnesia, is a white solid mineral that occurs naturally as periclase and is a source of magnesium.

Magnesia is more efficient than Alumina because it is stable up to 2200°C. It has an empirical formula of MgO. It is formed by an ionic bond between one magnesium and one oxygen atom. Magnesium oxide is hygroscopic in nature and care must be taken to protect it from moisture. Magnesium hydroxide forms in the presence of water (MgO + H2O → Mg(OH)2), but it can be reversed by heating it to separate moisture.

Applications of Magnesia crucibles

Ceramic Magnesium Oxide (Magnesia) Crucibles are available in various standard sizes and wall thicknesses for high temperature applications that benefit from their resistance to corrosion and transperency in infrared light.

Magnesium oxide materials are ideal due to their high thermal conductivity and good electrical insulation properties, especially for applications in thermal engineering and temperature measurement. They are used in thermocouples as well as in various heating appliances. The MgO here insulates the heating elements from one another and the metal sheath, but at the same time ensures good thermal conductivity to the outside. The choice of MgO types is dependent on the application. We will be pleased to help you in selecting the appropriate material!

Packing of Magnesia crucibles

Standard Packing:

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.

ATTs’ Magnesia crucibles is carefully handled to minimize damage during storage and transportation and to preserve the quality of our products in their original condition.
