Rhenium(VI) Oxide

Product Code : Re-5N-OX

Rhenium is a chemical element with the symbol Re and atomic number 75. It is a silvery-gray, heavy, third-row transition metal in group 7 of the periodic table. With an estimated average concentration of 1 part per billion (ppb), rhenium is one of the rarest elements in the Earth's crust.

Rhenium(VI) Oxide (CAS: 1314-28-9) is a kind of deep red powder. Rhenium trioxide or rhenium oxide (VI) is an inorganic compound whose chemical formula is ReO3. It is a red solid with a metallic luster, and its appearance is similar to copper.

Rhenium(VI) Oxide or Rhenium Trioxide is a highly insoluble thermally stable rhenium source suitable for glass, optic and ceramic applications. Rhenium oxide is a chemical compound formed when rhenium oxidizes in air. Oxide compounds are not conductive to electricity. However, certain perovskite structured oxides are electronically conductive finding application in the cathode of solid oxide fuel cells and oxygen generation systems. They are compounds containing at least one oxygen anion and one metallic cation. They are typically insoluble in aqueous solutions (water) and extremely stable making them useful in ceramic structures as simple as producing clay bowls to advanced electronics and in light weight structural components in aerospace and electrochemical applications such as fuel cells in which they exhibit ionic conductivity. Metal oxide compounds are basic anhydrides and can therefore react with acids and with strong reducing agents in redox reactions. Rhenium Oxide is also available in pellets, pieces, sputtering targets, tablets, and nanopowder (from American Elements' nanoscale production facilities). Rhenium Oxide is generally immediately available in most volumes. Ultra high purity, high purity, submicron and nanopowder forms may be considered. Additional technical, research and safety (MSDS) information is available.
