Product Code : RE-ScAl-5N-SO
Scandium aluminum alloys are a winning combination of scandium and aluminum metal. Scandium is a silvery-white metallic transition metal, often classified as a rare earth element (REE), together with yttrium (Y) and the 15 lanthanides (La). Alloying scandium into aluminum adds strength and desirable properties to aluminum. And the addition of scandium to aluminum limits the excessive grain growth that occurs in the heat-affected zone of welded aluminum components.
Scandium aluminum Alloys are available as bar, Ingot, ribbon, wire, shot, sheet, and foil. Ultra high purity and high purity forms also include metal powder, submicron powder and nanoscale, targets for thin film deposition, and pellets for chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) applications. Typical and custom packaging is available. Primary applications include bearing assembly, ballast, casting, step soldering, and radiation shielding.

Scandium Aluminum Alloys Advantages
- Adding scandium makes Aluminium stronger
- Scandium aluminum alloy has better weld-ability properties
- Grain structure during forming and extrusion stays intact
- Stronger at rising temperature, in combination with Zirconium.
Scandium Aluminum Alloys Applications
1. Used for minor aerospace industry components. Scandium can significantly increase strength and reduce grain size.
2. Used in some sports equipment, including baseball bats, lacrosse sticks, bicycle frames, and related components.
3. Used in bearing assembly, ballast, casting, step soldering, and radiation shielding.
Packing of Scandium Aluminium (Sc-Al) Shot
Standard Packing:
Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
