Zirconium Sputtering Target, Zr

Product Code : ST-Zr-5N-Cu

Zirconium sputtering target shares properties with its source material. Zirconium is a chemical element with the symbol Zr and atomic number 40. It is a lustrous, grey-white, strong transition metal that closely resembles hafnium and, to a lesser extent, titanium. Zirconium is mainly used as a refractory and opacifier, although small amounts are used as an alloying agent for its strong resistance to corrosion. Zirconium forms a variety of inorganic and organometallic compounds such as zirconium dioxide and zirconocene dichloride, respectively. Five isotopes occur naturally, three of which are stable. Zirconium compounds have no known biological role.

Sputtering Targets Requirements

General requirements such as size, flatness, purity, impurity content, density, N/O/C/S, grain size, and defect control. Special requirements include surface roughness, resistance value, grain size uniformity, composition and tissue uniformity, magnetic conductivity, ultra-high density, ultra-fine grains, etc.

Application of  Zirconium Sputtering Target

Zirconium sputtering target is used for thin film deposition, fuel cell, decoration, semiconductor, display, LED and photovoltaic devices, functional coating as nicely as other optical information storage space industry, glass coating industry like car glass and architectural glass, optical communication, etc.

The Zirconium metal is used also in the nuclear industry as nuclear reactors for cladding fuel elements since it has a low absorption cross-section for neutrons. Zirconium is very resistant to corrosion by many common acids and alkalis and by seawater. It is therefore used extensively by the chemical industry where corrosive agents are employed. The metal is used as an alloying agent in steel and for making surgical appliances. The metal super conducts at low temperatures and zirconium/niobium alloys are used to make superconductor magnets. Alloys with zinc become magnetic at temperatures below 35 K. Zirconium is used as a “getter” in vacuum tubes, in flashbulbs for photography, in explosive primers, and in lamp filaments.

packing of Zirconium Sputtering Target

Standard Packing:

Typical bulk packaging includes palletized plastic 5 gallon/25 kg. pails, fiber and steel drums to 1 ton super sacks in full container (FCL) or truck load (T/L) quantities. Research and sample quantities and hygroscopic, oxidizing or other air sensitive materials may be packaged under argon or vacuum. Solutions are packaged in polypropylene, plastic or glass jars up to palletized 440 gallon liquid totes Special package is available on request.
