TiAl alloy is a new alloy based on intermetallic compounds, which has the characteristics of light weight and high strength. Because the alloy is suitable for rotating and reciprocating parts, its applicability is closely related to blades of aircraft and other industrial engines, exhaust valves and turbochargers of passenger car engines.

Two-phase TiAl alloy has attracted wide attention because of its attractive properties such as low density, excellent high temperature strength and good oxidation resistance. However, TiAl alloy is very brittle at room temperature and its fracture toughness is relatively low.

Preparation and Processing Technology of Titanium Aluminum Alloy

The preparation and processing technology of Ti-Al alloy mainly includes the following:

1. Ingot Metallurgy Technology

The titanium-aluminum alloy prepared by this method has problems such as segregation of ingot composition and uneven structure.

2. Rapid Condensation Technology

The Ti-Al alloy powder prepared by this method has a stable chemical composition and good process performance, but with the change of heat treatment temperature, the microstructure and hardness of the powder will change accordingly.
