It is a water-insoluble Ytterbium source for oxygen-sensitive applications, such as metal production and fluoride glass. Fluorides are also commonly used in alloy metals and for optical deposition. Ytterbium is applied to fiber amplifiers and fiber optic technologies and in lasing applications. Ytterbium Fluoride Powder is an important colorant in glasses and porcelain enamel glazes.
